Memorable sunsets and water sports galore.
Amidst the tranquil oasis of the northern end of South Padre Island, Texas, (sometimes referred to as SPI) you can enjoy fiery sunsets over Laguna Madre from the balcony of this waterfront vacation home. During the day, from that same balcony you can watch people enjoying wind surfing, kite boarding and parasailing, or riding jet skis and banana boats. If you wish, you can rent them all close by. In the bay, there is outstanding fishing from the dock, your own boat or with a guide. On Friday nights during the summer there are spectacular fireworks displays with an unimpeded view right out front of the house or sitting on the balcony. Just imagine how relaxing it will be to sit and enjoy all the water activities going right by your own yard and dock as well as watching the abundance of nature flying, floating and swimming past the front.
Birding and nature at it's best
Watching the birds such as the pelicans that perch on the channel marker right out front is something many people will enjoy. The island is home to many migrating birds. There are also nature trails to follow and see more varieties of birds while on you visit to the island. The Rio Grande Valley has become a birding "destination" with hundreds of species not seen anywhere else in the United States. A new birding center is in the planning here along with a lot more trails--this is being built near the convention center.
Beaches, fishing and more
The island of South Padre offers family access to pristine Gulf of Mexico beaches, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, dolphin watching and other outdoor activities. Take long beach walks on the beautiful white sand and enjoy the clear blue water, while basking in the tropical breezes that keep island temperatures well below the mainland heat. You will notice the difference as you drive across the bridge to the island.
Winter Texans love this place as will summer vacationers
Winter Texans will especially like this vacation rental as it is on a quiet cul-de-sac. The house is more spacious than most condos and apartments and by virtue of its location, more comfortable for pure relaxation. There is no problem with parking as there is a garage and parking for extra cars. Renters will not have to compete for a parking space close to the door or worry about a lot of traffic as you are away from the main high density areas of the island. While you are staying at this bay front house, you will still find everything you need close by, just a street or two away from Padre Boulevard. What can be more relaxing and enjoyable than having the best of all locations? The view is spectacular, the house is comfortable and roomy but in a quiet neighborhood close by to everything anyone would need.
Other activities and sports available
Nearby are other activities: golf, tennis, horseback riding and bird watching, which are available year round. For those who like more exciting entertainment, the new Schlitterbahn Water Park, Louie’s Backyard, miniature golf and go-kart racing offer plenty of opportunity. The lighthouse in Port Isabel has been renovated is ready for tours.
Great eating at island restaurants
There is a wealth of local restaurants presenting a wide range of foods. Most will cook your catch if you so desire. If you merely want to chill out, then sunbathing on the beach under plentiful umbrellas, readily available for rent, may be the perfect tonic. But if shopping is your bag, there are plenty of shops on the island, and neighboring Matamoros, Mexico is a mere 30-minute drive away. If you are leaving the island to explore, don't forget the world famous Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. For those interested in going a bit further along the border, Progreso, Mexico offers great shopping and eating, but is not all that far from the island. While staying at the rental house, you will have plenty of time to enjoy fishing, swimming, eating and shopping all in the same day if you wish.
Accessible to airports, cities and Mexico
The island is easily accessible by car, but two nearby airports, Harlingen
and Brownsville, provide frequent and low-cost connections to most major cities
in the region. There are rental car agencies and shuttle buses available, also.
A shuttle bus system will take you to many stops all along Padre Boulevard with
one stop at the end of the street where the vacation rental is located.
This is a no smoking and no pets house.
